Distributed Interference Alignment Precoding and Detection for MU-MIMO OTSM Downlink in Time-Varying Channels

Abstract

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is transforming industrial sectors by enabling smart factories, automation, and real-time monitoring. However, multi user communication in such environments is often challenged by harsh conditions, including multipath fading, Doppler shifts, and high levels of interference. Orthogonal Time Sequency Multiplexing (OTSM) is an emerging modulation scheme that offers enhanced spectral efficiency, robustness to interference, and resilience against channel impairments. This article presents a comprehensive analysis of MIMO-OTSM, exploring its underlying principles under multi user scenarios, distributed interference alignment based precoding and detection in IIoT. We demonstrate MIMO OTSM superiority in dynamic and cluttered industrial environments. The findings suggest that OTSM could be a key enabler for reliable and efficient communication in next-generation IIoT networks.
